Kate Silverman

Kate grew up in San Francisco and began her career at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, now the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, working with patients with spinal cord injury. U.S. News & World Report has ranked it the No. 1 rehabilitation hospital in the country for 36 consecutive years. She moved to Boston to specialize in the hand and upper limb, working with musicians' injuries before widening into orthopedic hand and upper limb care. She later practiced in Santa Monica and now treats patients in Santa Barbara.

When she is not in the clinic she is usually hiking, and she brings the same belief in fitness, wellness and balance to her patients' recovery.

In their words

“Working with Kate was truly a life-changing experience. From the moment I walked into the clinic, I felt not just cared for-but understood. She didn’t just treat my injury; she treated me. Her expertise in hand therapy is undeniable, but what really sets her apart is her ability to connect on a personal level. She listened, encouraged, and supported me through every stage of recovery-physically and emotionally. Her kindness, encouragement, and gentle persistence made an incredible difference in my healing process. Thanks to her, I not only regained strength and function, but also confidence and peace of mind. I am endlessly grateful for her dedication, compassion and healing hands.”

Ally G.

“Kate is fantastic! I had wrist surgery six months ago and I credit my excellent recovery to her expertise and care. If you care to have your hands work correctly after injury, Kate is the answer!”

Peter L.

“Kate is an exceptionally skilled upper extremity therapist. I not only send her patients, which always leads to rave reviews, but I have also used her myself for my own injuries, where she helped me make a full recovery. I can’t recommend her enough.”

David P., DO

“A truly amazing hand therapist! I accidentally cut my tendon while woodcarving and I was worried I would never regain full motion of my thumb. But now, from working together, I have regained all of my grip and all of my thumb motion. I couldn’t be happier with this outcome. I enjoyed our conversations each session. Kate is the best hand therapist I could have wished for and I would recommend anyone who needs help to go to her.”

George K.

“After multiple hand surgeries and a few different therapists, Kate was the only one who really made a difference. She took the time to understand what was going on with my hand and wrist and got me on track and back to a normal life very quickly!”

Michael B.

“Kate is an exceptional hand therapist. She is knowledgeable and kind. She took the time to know me and customized her approach to the unique aspects of my injury. With her help, I made significant progress in my recovery, a marked improvement over what I experienced with my previous therapist. I am so grateful to Kate and cannot recommend her highly enough.”
